13. How To Climb Everest | Kami Rita Sherpa
Another book in the Little Ways to Live a Big Life series.
Friends,
I climbed Kilimanjaro about 10 years ago and it was SO FLIPPING DIFFICULT. I have absolutely no desire to ever climb Everest, even though I’m in complete awe of people who try.
This is a cute little book, written from the Sherpa pov rather than the climbers, which we are used to. None of these ascents would be successful with these incredibly brave sherpas and so it’s refreshing to read a book like this.
Kami Rita Sherpa is a Nepali guide who had scaled Mount Everest for the first time by the age of 24. He now holds the record for most ascents to the summit, and in May 2019 he scaled the mountain for the twenty-fourth time.1
My favourite quote from the book:
“As Reinhold Messier once said: ‘Mountains are not fair or unfair, they are just dangerous.’”
